Homecoming week is around the corner, and Student Life Coordinators say this year's activities will be some of the best! Starting October 13th and ending October 18th, the week will be filled with activities, school spirit, and loads of fun. This year's schedule will introduce new activities and a new partnership. By staying engaged, students will be sure not to miss out on the activities waiting around the corner.

After speaking to Student Life Coordinator, Anthony King, he is pleased to share the events the Student Life Office has gathered. Starting off strong, on Monday, fellow students will rally against faculty and staff in a head-to-head dodgeball match. The match will be located on the upper turf field, starting time 4:45pm to 6:00pm. That said, King is excited to roll off the week with dodgeball, “It is a great way to get everyone loosed up.” He further points out, “students rarely see faculty in this context; so, it will be a cool change”.
Coasting from the chaos of dodgeball into the excitement and pride of a volleyball game. On Tuesday, students will search for their best summer gear for a beach themed volleyball game. “Bringing students out to the game is a great way to charge up school spirit that will carry into the rest of the week,” stated King. Brushing off the sand and moving towards the SAC from 6:45pm to 9:15pm, returning students are ready to test their luck at casino night, on Wednesday, October 15th. Many students expressed great positivity towards last year's casino night, “there were so many people in the SAC last year” one student expressed. “I can’t wait to go again this year” another student shared. Last year's casino night was a huge success; therefore, homecoming week would not be the same without it.
Moving on to Thursday, the Clarke Basketball Team will be hosting a scrimmage game under the theme "Clarke Chaos". One of the players mentioned, “The game will include halftime games and contests”, “a 3-point contest and dunk contest”. The scrimmage will start at 8:00pm in the Kehl Center and will showcase what the basketball teams have been working on throughout the preseason.
Trickling down to the finale of the week, Friday, October 17th, the cash CAB will be cruising around campus from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm providing students the chance to test their trivia skills. That same day, leading to a lifetime of bragging, the Powderpuff game will kick off at 7:00pm. Students will watch their peers, or join in, in a flag football game out on the turf. Many students agree, “Powderpuff is probably my favorite part of Homecoming Week.” The game will test students' agility and throwing skills.
For the moment everyone has been preparing for: the homecoming football game! It will be held at Dalzell Field on Saturday, October 18th; the athletes will be playing against Culver-Stockton. During interviews players stated, “Clarke and Culver are close in rankings,” they went on to add, “I think homecoming will be a good game because we came close to winning against Culver before.” Many players believe that due to the closeness in rankings it will be a fun game to watch. Prior to the game, starting at 11:00am, Student Life Coordinators teamed up with Alumni to host a pregame cookout in front of the Atrium.
To keep up on upcoming events, Student Life Coordinators urge students to “follow the CAB TikTok and Instagram”. Additionally, events will be listed on the Corq app as usual. With anticipationbuilding, Student Life Coordinators expect to see a large turnout.
