Baseball Team's Successful Start

Updated: May 5

A team on campus that has sustained their success throughout the years is the Clarke Baseball Team. They have found ways to win in a conference that is not easy to play in to say the least. Winning over 20 games the last 3 years shows how committed they are to success. This comes down to their offseason practices, recruiting, and training plans. This year even with a new coach and coaching staff the strong play in the conference continues. Opening conference versus Missouri Valley University Clarke dismantled the Vikings 51-30 in the first three games of the series. All season long the offense has been there for the Pride with them scoring close to 9 runs in most of their wins.

Back on March 11th Alden Brown received the Heart Player of the Week award.  Brown in this double header with Missouri Valley had three RBIs in both games. Getting one or two RBIs in a game is impressive but the fact he had three in both games is outstanding. Brown would finish the day 4 for 6 and even add a three-run home run. He was the second member of the Pride to earn this prestigious award this year.

The conference race is heating up as the top eight teams make the conference tournament. There are only a few games that separate the 3rd through 9th seed. It is still early on in the season but with the rest of the games remaining the teams surely will be trading places and having highly competitive matches throughout. We at the Clarke Crux wish the Pride baseball team a healthy and successful finish to their season.
